Adopt Startup ("we", "us", "our") is an initiative of Maxfeatures (P) Ltd, a company registered in India, with its office at Altf Noida 142, Ground Floor, Plot No. 21 & 21A, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, India. Maxfeatures (P) Ltd is the data fiduciary responsible for personal data collected through adoptstartup.com.
This policy applies to our website, our application forms (fundraising events, investor membership, Adopt 50, business registration and careers), our events and our communications with you.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to review your application or request:
- Contact details: name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, city and country.
- Startup information: company name, website, app links, stage, sector, funding requirement, revenue, traction, pitch decks and other documents you upload.
- Investor information: investor type, organisation, cheque size, sectors and stages of interest, LinkedIn profile and profile photo (if you choose to upload one).
- Business registration requests: countries of interest, services needed, type of business and timeline.
- Career applications: CV, education, experience, LinkedIn profile, availability and your cover note.
- Technical data: IP address and the date and time of your submission, used to prevent spam and abuse.
Please do not upload information you are not authorised to share, or sensitive personal data that is not needed for your application.
3. How we use your information
- To review and respond to your application or request, and to contact you about it.
- To shortlist startups for pitching events and the Adopt 50 program, and to share relevant deals with member investors.
- To match business registration requests with suitable professional partners.
- To assess career applicants for current and future openings.
- To send confirmations, updates and information about our events and programs. You can opt out of promotional messages at any time.
- To keep our website secure and to meet legal, tax and regulatory obligations.
We process your data on the basis of your consent, which you give when you submit a form, and for legitimate uses permitted under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable laws.
4. When we share information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed, and only for the purpose you applied for:
- With member investors: startup details and pitch materials are shared with investors when you take part in our fundraising events or programs.
- With professional partners: company secretaries, lawyers, accountants and due-diligence partners who handle work you request, bound by confidentiality.
- With service providers: hosting, email and similar providers who process data on our behalf.
- Publicly, only with your approval: verified investor profiles and the names, logos and descriptions of selected Adopt 50 startups may be shown on our website.
- When required by law: to comply with legal obligations, court orders or requests from authorities.
Some partners may be located outside India, for example for international business registration. Where data is transferred abroad, we do so in line with applicable law.
5. How long we keep it
We keep application data for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected and for up to three years after our last interaction with you, unless a longer period is required by law. Career applications are kept for up to two years so we can contact you about future openings. You can ask us to delete your data sooner (see Your rights).
6. Security
Uploaded documents are stored in a private location that is not publicly accessible, and only authorised team members can view them through a password-protected admin panel. Our website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information and will notify you and the authorities of a data breach as required by law.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you can:
- Ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it.
- Ask us to correct, update or complete your information.
- Ask us to delete your information, or withdraw your consent at any time.
- Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf.
- Raise a grievance with us, and if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.
Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out, but we may no longer be able to consider your application.
8. Cookies and local storage
Our public website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. If you start filling in a form, an unsent draft may be saved in your own browser so you don't lose it; it never leaves your device until you submit. Our admin panel uses a session cookie for team sign-in only.
9. Children
Our services are meant for founders, investors, professionals and students aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
